5 Hair Care Myths

Various different myths are associated with proper hair care. You have probably fallen victim to some of these myths yourself. This article will dispel five of the most common hair care myths

Myth 1:

Conditioner can fix your split ends.

The only thing that can fix split ends is a good hair trim. Conditioner cannot fix your split ends. If you do have split ends, it is a good idea to invest in a good moisturizing conditioner and even one that claims to repair the split ends. The reason is because it can make them much easier for you to manage.

Myth 2:

Everyone should brush their hair 100 times daily.

Excessive brushing can be really bad for your hair. If you are too rough with the rough or you just repeatedly brush the same area, it can lead to breakage and split ends. Only brush your hair as much as you really need to.

Myth 3:

You need to use lots of shampoo and conditioner to get good results.

This could not be any further from the truth. Using too much shampoo may cause dry scalp and using too much conditioner may cause hair to look greasy or oily. The best thing you can do is use about a dime sized amount of each, or perhaps a little bit more, depending on the length of your hair

Myth 4:

Brushing hair while wet is the best way to get tangles out.

When your hair is wet, it is important to make sure that you avoid brushing it altogether. The reason is because you can cause severe breakage and split ends. You should only ever take a comb to the hair while it is wet.

Myth 5:

Hair should only be washed every 2-3 days.

Some people may only need to wash their hair every two to three days. In fact, some people (particularly African-Americans) only need to wash their hair only once every week to two weeks in order to prevent dryness. Others need to wash their hair every day. You should do whatever works the best for you.
